Middlesex is part of Cockaponset State Forest and is certainly not a place for beginner/recreational riders. It consists of a healthy mix of fireroads, powerline trails, rock outcrops and twisty rocky evil rooty singletracks full of Laurel trees that constantly try to rip you off your bike. And as great as this all sounds, almost every bit of trail cut here is rideable, challenging, but still rideable. There are also not many BIG climbs here, it is mostly quick ups and downs - but still, Middlesex certainly will give you a workout, it never allows you get a good rhythm going. There are also A LOT of trails here. I have been riding here for many years and i still get lost. I love this place. Again, probably only good for a two or three cars at most - there is room to pull completely off the road. Not a terribly difficult roll, but I have seen my share of people get thrown over their bars going down this (there's a little divet that can catch your front wheel if you are not aware).
