Days are getting shorter you know.  Time to dust off your lights and charge em up!  But hey... maybe your current light does not put out enough light?  Maybe you want both a bar and helmet mounted light?  Maybe you need a backup light?  What's that?  You don't want to spend a lot of cash?  Well, Kill Your ATV might just have a $35ish solution for you.   From China with love!

Save West Hartford Reservoir!

It is looking like the MDC could very well be shutting down the West Hartford Reservoir for public recreation.   This would be a shame.  I am sure every single one of us has some fond memories with "The Rez" as the backdrop.   Thankfully, some people are stepping up and getting organized - "Save The MDC Trails" is working towards getting the proper legislation passed so West Hartford Reservoir can remain open to the public.

"Protect Our Trails" Resources

Well hey now, it's spring.  We have even enjoyed a couple really nice days now... 60+ degrees and sunny?  GTFO!   Who wants to get out and ride?  Yeah, me too.   Problem is where?  Certainly you don't want to go muddin' and trash our beloved trails.   Lucky for you we have some tools and tips on keeping our singletrack, well, single.    We even just unleashed a new one, our so called Historical Precipitation Lookup tool.

Stickers? You want some? We just got some.

It's been a year or two since we replenished the sticker supply.  Plus I figure with a brand spanking new website we should probably bust out some new designs to keep things flowing.   Good right?  So you want some?  Or maybe you just curious how much of a horrorshow my remedial design skills have birthed?   Either way, pop on in, check them out and learn how you can get some for yourself.

The Great 2010 Crankfire Data Drive - Sponsored by Hydrapak

Buckle up folks!  Thanks to Hydrapak, we have a summer long contest of epic (for us) proportions.  I call it the "The Great 2010 Crankfire Data Drive", but you can call it, "I usually spend my days at work staring at this website anyways, so I can at least win stuff" contest.   The scoop in as few words a possible:  Starts March 1st, Ends September 30th.  Add, upload, contribute, associate, rate, interact to/with this website - twice a month the people that do that stuff the most will win stuff.   Then there is a $700+ grand prize up for grabs.  Do it!

The Crankfire Social Media Initiative

Well, it's the 2010's, and it has been official for about 10 years now:  we have no choice but to embrace social media.   And that's ok because this Crankfire V3 was designed with all sorts of social principles in mind - whatever that means.  So what's up?  We have established ourselves on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, Youtube and MySpace - and we tried to make it as easy as possible for you to simply spread the love!

Your GPS Data Locker

This is part one in our series of what in hell is going on up in here.

We put a lot of effort into making this version of Crankfire as "geographically centered" as possible, and this so called "data locker" is just the start!  In a nutshell, you can "roll your own" GPS data files with this.  Or you can use it as a geo-bookmarks library.  Regardless, if you got a GPS and like maps, this is worth a read.

Never really saw much else here... but I still like this loop though! There's those handful of rocky technical descents that I love picking (or trying to) through. Plus, when it finally "levels out" a bit, the singletrack gets mighty...

That's on the list for this year... I was up there with RLDO last year and we decided to hit this at the end of the day - almost 17 miles later, we didn't have the energy for it. Hitting it first this year.

Definitely a cool place! I really dug all the quarries and "leftover quarrying crap" scattered throughout the woods. Had a nice vibe.

Wow. Millstone? Sweet. Now I might have to join in riding here again next week on our way up to Kingdom! Last time I rode here it was cool and all, but nothing like that existed!
